After 16,000+ real estate transactions, you’d think we’d be strutting around like peacocks. But the truth is— Steven and I spend more time thinking about what we could have done better than what we’ve already accomplished. And that’s a good thing.
If you’re building a land flipping business online, I want to share some of the biggest lessons we’ve learned. These aren’t tips about mail merges or pricing strategies—these are the real-deal mindset shifts that made all the difference for us (and can do the same for you).
- There’s Always Another Deal
This is the first lesson I wish I’d embraced sooner.
When you’re new to land flipping online, it’s easy to fall in love with a deal and panic if it falls apart. Maybe the seller ghosts you. Maybe someone else grabs it. Maybe the deal just doesn’t make sense.
Let. It. Go.
There’s always another deal. This business is abundant. You’ll get another shot tomorrow—if not later today.
- Change Is Inevitable—Embrace It
If you want to succeed with land flipping online, you must get comfortable with change.
Technology evolves. Platforms go down. Pricing tools get smarter. Counties switch systems. The rules are always shifting.
Instead of getting frustrated, adapt. Your ability to stay flexible and pivot is what will keep you in the game long after others give up.
- Competition Isn’t the Enemy—It’s a Sign You’re in the Right Place
If no one else is targeting the area you’re mailing… it might not be the goldmine you think it is.
Competition is part of the deal. It tells you there’s activity—people are buying and selling land in that zip code. Instead of shrinking back, step up. Be better. Be faster. Be the one who gets the deal closed.
- Surround Yourself With Like-Minded People
This may be one of the most powerful lessons we’ve learned.
If you’re serious about land flipping online, you need to be around people who get it. People who think differently, challenge the status quo, and push you to level up.
Find a group, a mastermind, a community—whatever it takes. When you’re surrounded by people with an entrepreneurial mindset, your growth accelerates.
- You Don’t Need All the Answers to Start
When Steven started flipping land, Google Earth didn’t exist. We used atlases and plat maps to track down properties. (Yes, really.)
Now? The tools we have make land flipping online easier and more accessible than ever before.
But don’t wait to be “ready.” Start with what you have, where you are. If you’ve got a laptop and a hunger to learn, you’re already ahead of where we were back then.
Final Thoughts
We’ve made more mistakes than I can count. We’ve also built a life and business that gives us freedom, purpose, and a whole lot of laughs along the way.
